The SFI Sustainable Forestry Initiative® Standard (SFIS) makes provisions for the public to report inconsistent practices through the provincial or state Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Implementation Committee.
An inconsistent practice is a non-conformance to the SFIS by SFI program participants. The Western Canada SFI Implementation Committee (WCSIC) maintains the primary responsibility for receiving SFI program related complaints against program participants in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan and determining if they warrant investigation and ensuring credible response.
The public may contact the SFI member directly to report any forestry activity that does not comply with the SFIS or direct complaints to the WCSIC. The WCSIC will forward valid complaint to the appropriate SIC member for follow up.
The WCSIC members will facilitate communication and provide guidance to ensure thorough follow-up for all SFI complaints. Corrective actions, if necessary, are the responsibility of SFI member based upon their internal company policies.
For more details please refer to the WCSIC Procedure for Addressing Allegations of SFI Program Non-Conformance.
